Contemporary Worship Music Leader

We are looking for a dynamic individual with good vocal skills to lead worship and direct a small praise band (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) at two contemporary worship services a month. Should have experience working with an ensemble and be able to lead congregational singing. Should be comfortable with public speaking and leading congregational prayer. Keyboard or guitar skills would be a preferred but not required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • * Strong, enthusiastic commitment to Jesus as Lord.
  • * Ability to play from a lead sheet (fake book style).
  • * Strong enough vocals to lead congregational singing.
  • * Ability to lead, develop and nurture musical skills in others and to assist other singers in finding harmonies if needed.
  • * Familiarity with contemporary Christian music Ability to lead other musicians at a rehearsal.
  • * Must be open to ideas from the group and be confident to make musical decisions as the need arises.
  • * Experience in leading or singing in contemporary worship.
  • * Ability to communicate well through e-mail and over the phone.

DUTIES:

  • * Select appropriate songs for each service (typically six songs per service).
  • * Prepare any necessary arrangements and copies for the band.
  • * Preparing CD’s of upcoming new songs is also very helpful for the other musicians.
  • * Lead rehearsal for each service.
  • * Also arrive early on Sunday for a run-through before the service begins.
  • * Lead worship and praise band at two services per month (first and second Sundays of each month at 10:15 am).
  • * Work with PowerPoint technician to make sure lyrics to be displayed for the congregation are accurate (via e-mail).
  • * Reports to Co-Pastors and Director of Music and interfaces with Worship and Music Committee of Session.

  • Salary to be negotiated based on experience, academic background and number of participating musicians.
